Officers responded a call concerning a two-vehicle injury collision in the 5000 block of Crittenden Drive. Officers arrived to find a vehicle that had hit a pole, rolled over and brought down power lines. One person, 54-year-old John \u201cChris\u201d Goodaker, died in the accident.<\/p>\n
Surveillance video showed a dark Jeep Wrangler involved in the collision that fled the scene.<\/p>\n
Louisville Metro Police was able to identify and locate the Jeep on Monday, June 8. They found Michael Joseph sitting in the driver\u2019s seat with the keys in the ignition.<\/p>\n
Joseph told police that he had not moved the Jeep in over 30 days due to mechanical issues, but recanted under Miranda warning and said that he was driving the Jeep on June 2 on Crittenden Drive. He said when the other vehicle in the collision hit the pole, it caused sparks and he left the scene.<\/p>\n
During the collision, the Jeep was improperly passing another vehicle at a high rate of speed and Joseph had no valid driver\u2019s license and could not provide proof of insurance.<\/p>\n
Joseph was in court Tuesday morning and is charged with leaving the scene of an accident and failure to render aid or assist with death or serious physical injury, reckless driving, no operator\u2019s license, failure to have insurance and improper passing. He is being held in the Louisville Metro Department of Corrections.
