According to the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy attempted to stop a Dodge Charger driving 90 mph in a 70 mph zone on the Bluegrass Parkway just after 6 p.m. Monday, June 15.<\/p>\n
The driver refused to stop and accelerated, leading deputies on a pursuit down the Bluegrass Parkway for several miles. Because of traffic conditions, deputies were unable to deploy tire deflation devices as the suspect continued driving toward Washington County, according to the sheriff’s office<\/p>\n
The driver exited the Bluegrass Parkway once in Washington County and turned onto KY Highway 555. The chase ended when deputies lost sight of the vehicle after a semitruck prevented patrol units from safely passing.<\/p>\n
The suspect vehicle was eventually spotted again by deputies from Nelson and Washington counties near the intersection of the highway and Lawrenceburg Road. <\/p>\n
The sheriff’s office said the suspect “made eye contact with deputies” and fled again down KY Highway 555, reaching speeds exceeding 130 mph and passing vehicles in no-passing zones. At the intersection of KY Highway 150, police said the driver drove into oncoming traffic in a roundabout. <\/p>\n
The vehicle continued onto Bardstown Road and drove into a security gate at the entrance of a business where they kept driving onto the property.<\/p>\n
The vehicle was later found abandoned behind a softball field, but the driver was nowhere to be found. <\/p>\n
Inside the vehicle, deputies found ID belonging to Lemus Orlin Aguilar. Police said the vehicle had a temporary Tennessee registration, registered to an insurance company based in North Carolina.<\/p>\n
The sheriff’s office said 18 year-old Aguilar later turned himself in and was arrested on a warrant. He’s being held at the Nelson County Jail on a $10,000 cash bond.
