The closure is centered on the work zone at the intersection, and city traffic control is in place to keep drivers out of the area, while crews dig down and rebuild the roadway.

Drivers will see a clearly marked detour route posted on-site with city traffic control signage. The detour is designed to keep traffic moving around the closure while work continues.

Meanwhile, officials say, another route in the area will be open for local traffic only, allowing nearby residents to get in and out of the neighborhood.

City leaders emphasize no residents are being cut off from access during the closure. Even with the detours and restrictions, people who live in the area will still be able to reach their homes and driveways.

City officials say repairs have been made in this area in the past, but after further evaluation, the city determined the problem goes deeper than previously thought.

This time, officials say, a more extensive repair is necessary to correct the underlying issue and provide a longer-term solution, rather than a short-term patch.

The city expects the project to take a minimum of 60 days, meaning the closure could stretch well into the coming weeks depending on weather and construction conditions. Officials acknowledge the disruption will be inconvenient for drivers who use the intersection regularly, but say, the repair is an important investment in public safety and the long-term reliability of the roadway.

During construction, the city is asking motorists to slow down near the work zone, follow all posted detour signs, and allow extra travel time. Officials also remind drivers to be mindful of workers on-site as the sinkhole is repaired and the intersection is restored.
Source: WBKO

The City of Bowling Green is warning drivers to plan ahead, as a busy neighborhood intersection is closed for an extended repair project.

"_jetpack_memberships_contains_paywalled_content":false
_jetpack_memberships_contains_paid_content":false
[51,59

post-56774","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-main-news","category-news","entry

https://i0.wp.com/www.wvih.com/wp1/wp-content/uploads/2026/06/Bowling-Green-Sinkhole.jpg?fit=92%2C92&ssl=1
[69
category
]},"publishpress_future_workflow_manual_trigger":
["GET
