\nA man died after being hit by a vehicle early Sunday morning in the Fern Creek area.<\/p>\n

Louisville Metro Police said officers were dispatched around 1:30 a.m. on a reported crash and pedestrian struck near Bardstown Road and South Watterson Trail.<\/p>\n

Investigators said an unoccupied vehicle was stopped in the left lane of Bardstown Road, just north of Watterson Trail, from a previous collision.<\/p>\n

Police said the pedestrian, a man who they believed to be the driver of that vehicle, was standing near the car and a concrete median when an unknown vehicle traveling southbound in the northbound lanes struck him.<\/p>\n

EMS took the man to UofL Hospital where he died soon after arrival, according to police.<\/p>\n

LMPD\u2019s Traffic Unit is investigating. Police said the driver who crashed into the man fled the scene.<\/p>\n
