This week, the Glasgow Police Department received a complaint from a woman in the community who reported being a victim of an organized financial scam, according to a media release from the Glasgow Police Department. During this time, she had over $150,000 stolen from her over the course of two weeks.<\/p>\n
On Wednesday, members of the Glasgow Police Department Criminal Investigation Division, Glasgow Police Department Patrol Division, Barren River Drug Task Force, and the Kentucky State Police conducted a joint enforcement response where they apprehended and arrested 24 year-old Akashdeep Singh as he attempted to meet with the victim in the Family Dollar parking lot, according to the media release. Singh admitted to driving across the country for the purpose of this scam.<\/p>\n
Singh was arrested and charged with engaging in organized crime and theft by deception over $10,000 with more changes pending, according to police. He is currently being held at the Barren County Detention Center on a $150,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 17.<\/p>\n
Police said this case remains under investigation and more arrests are pending.<\/p>\n
Detective Allen Ward made the arrest with help from Barren River Drug Task Force and the Kentucky State Police.<\/p>\n
