In a statement from UofL’s President Gerry Bradley, UofL Police responded to reports of shots fired at Family Scholar House, a UofL partnership organization at a non-university facility located near the edge of the University\u2019s Belknap campus.<\/p>\n
Family Scholar House later posted to social media that both of the victims were participants at the nonprofit.<\/p>\n
The post goes on to say one of the victims was working toward a career in forensic science, while the other was pursuing a nursing career with a specialization in geriatric care.<\/p>\n
The identities of the two victims have not been released yet, but Bradley said they were not students or employees at UofL. <\/p>\n
No suspects have been taken into custody.<\/p>\n
UofL says there is currently no reason to believe there is an ongoing threat to campus. <\/p>\n
However, students, faculty and staff are being urged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to UofL Police at 502-852-6111 and continue monitoring the UofL SafeZone App and university emails while law enforcement investigates.<\/p>\n
The university also reminded the campus community that counseling is available through the UofL Counseling Center for students affected by the incident. Employees can access support through the university\u2019s Employee Assistance Program.
