James Powell, 41, was arrested after a lengthy investigation.<\/p>\n
He is facing 40 counts related to possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
Powell was arrested following an undercover investigation by the Internet Crimes Against Children task force. The probe began after a complaint from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, leading police to serve search warrants at both Powell\u2019s home and the high school, where Powell is listed as being a math teacher.<\/p>\n
Shelby County Public Schools officials notified families that they have no reason to believe the allegations are connected to any students.
