An administrator of Caverna Independent Schools contacted Cave City Police about a potential grooming incident. According to the media release, officers immediately responded and opened an investigation.<\/p>\n
Through the investigation, law enforcement discovered that 60 year -old Maurice Bennett, a Caverna District Substitute, had engaged in grooming behaviors towards a student.<\/p>\n
Police officers then obtained a warrant for his arrest for violation of KRS 510.160 \u2013 Grooming a Minor.<\/p>\n
Bennett was taken into custody on Wednesday without further incident. He is being held in the Barren County Detention Center.<\/p>\n
The school district says Bennet is no longer permitted on school grounds.<\/p>\n
The investigation remains ongoing.
