Aaron Ellis, a spokesperson for Louisville Metro Police, said Monday officers responded to a reported crash around 6:15 p.m. on the Greenbelt Highway at Greenwood Road.<\/p>\n
Ellis said based on the preliminary investigation and speaking with witnesses, police believe a vehicle was making a left turn from the Greenbelt Highway onto Greenwood Road when it hit a motorcycle that was headed north on the Greenbelt Highway.<\/p>\n
Two people, a man and a woman, were ejected from the motorcycle upon impact, according to Ellis. Both were transported to UofL Hospital where they later died. The Jefferson County Coroner\u2019s Office identified the victims as 58-year-old Andrea Hill of Seymour, Indiana, and 62-year-old Robert Smallwood, also of Seymour, Indiana.<\/p>\n
One person from the vehicle that hit the motorcycle was also taken to the hospital with injuries not thought to be life-threatening.<\/p>\n
Ellis said no charges have been filed, but LMPD\u2019s Traffic Unit will consult with the Commonwealth Attorney\u2019s Office to determine whether any charges are warranted as the investigation continues.
