The request happened in court September 10 when Demaurion Moore was set to be sentenced. Moore and Mahki Cable were both convicted by a jury for their roles in the fatal shooting of 16 year-old Tyree Smith in 2021 at a bus stop near the intersection of Chestnut and Dr. W.J. Hodge streets.<\/p>\n
Two other students were injured.<\/p>\n
Moore had previously accepted a plea agreement but, during his appearance before Jefferson Circuit Court Judge Tracy Davis, he asked to withdraw his plea.<\/p>\n
Davis decided to give Moore time to find a new lawyer and put that motion in writing. She also said she would not enter any plea that called for concurrent time with charges, which he has already been convicted of and made it clear that nothing impacts the jury verdict.
