A Bowling Green man is facing charges after allegedly hitting a student outside of Warren Central High School Tuesday morning and then driving off.

According to the uniform citation, officers were called out to the scene of the accident around 7:15 a.m. A witness told police the driver of a black Dodge Durango hit a student and continued to drive. That witness followed the vehicle and saw it park at an apartment complex.

Police said the victim was a 16-year-old student who told them she was crossing in the crosswalk near Dragon Street and Warren Central Avenue when she saw the vehicle turning. She told police she started to run across the crosswalk because it looked like the Durango was speeding up. She said the vehicle hit her in the back on her backpack.

She fell to the ground and had what the citation called “two superficial, red, raw areas of skin erosion with blood” on her arm and elbow and some leg pain. Her father picked her up from school and she was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Officers went to the apartment complex where the suspect’s vehicle was located and came in contact with Tosiwo Ifamlik. Officers observed a crack on the vehicle’s headlight. According to the citation, Ifamlik told officers he felt a bump but didn’t see anything so he continued driving. However, according to his wife, he had informed her that he had just hit someone.

The uniform citation added that the student was wearing a bright orange shirt and was highly visible on the crosswalk according to the witness.

Ifamlik has been charged with Wanton Endangerment-1st Degree, Leaving the Scene of an Accident-Failure to Render Aid or Assistance, Assault, 4th Degree, Disregarding Traffic Regulation by Pedestrian.

Ronnie Ward, public information officer for Bowling Green Police Department, said the suspect was taken to the hospital to be evaluated for un-related health issues.
