\nEligible Kentucky veterans and active-duty military service members can now bypass the written Commercial Driver\u2019s License exam under an emergency regulation signed Tuesday by Governor Andy Beshear.<\/p>\n

The measure waives the written knowledge test for qualified service members who have operated commercial-style vehicles within the past two years, expanding on an existing road test waiver designed to streamline the transition into civilian transportation careers.<\/p>\n

Applicants can request a waiver application through the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. Decisions are delivered by mail within 30 days, after which approved drivers can finalize their credentials at any regional driver licensing office or online at drive.ky.gov<\/a>.<\/p>\n

To be eligible, military personnel must be a resident of Kentucky and have operated commercial-style vehicles within the past two years and have one of the following military occupational specialties or occupational classifications:<\/p>\n

U.S. Army:
\n88M – Motor Transport Operator
\n92F – Fueler
\n14T – Patriot Launching Station Operator<\/p>\n

U.S. Marine Corps:
\n3531 – Motor Vehicle Operator
\nCDL EXa<\/p>\n

U.S. Navy:
\nEO – Equipment Operator<\/p>\n

U.S. Air Force:
\n2TI – Vehicle Operator
\n2FO – Fueler
\n3E2 – Pavement and Construction Equipment Operator<\/p>\n
