Jamyri Marshall, 18, is charged with speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit, reckless driving, first degree fleeing or evading police, criminal mischief and carrying a concealed weapon, according to court documents.<\/p>\n
Just before 1 a.m., a Louisville Metro Police officer observed a vehicle driving at a high rate of speed on I-264 West. Using a laser, the vehicle is alleged to have been operating at 91 mph in a 55 mph zone.<\/p>\n
According to court documents, the officer then attempted a traffic stop, only for the vehicle to speed up and take the River Park Drive exit.<\/p>\n
Police say the vehicle was weaving through traffic and disregarding stop signs before crashing into the side of a building just off the exit ramp.<\/p>\n
The driver then left the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, leaving his girlfriend behind in the vehicle, according to arrest records. The girlfriend gave police information and a description of the driver, per court documents.<\/p>\n
After searching the vehicle, police say they found a handgun in the floorboard. Arrest records say Marshall did not have a valid CCW permit.<\/p>\n
The responding officer made contact with the owner of the building, stating there was approximately $150,000 to $200,000 worth of damages, according to arrest records.<\/p>\n
Later that evening, police say Marshall contacted the officer. Per his arrest citation, Marshall told the officer it was him that was driving the vehicle, and fled because he was scared and wanted to turn himself in.<\/p>\n
Marshall is currently being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections. He is expected in court for his arraignment on October 2.
