Starting early Monday, October 5, Gray Street under I-65 will close to vehicular traffic through late November, and sidewalk access on Muhammad Ali Boulevard beneath the interstate will shut down through mid-October for demolition operations. Beginning Monday, October 19, Chestnut Street under I-65 will also close until late November. Signed detours will be posted for all street and sidewalk closures.<\/p>\n
In addition, overnight lane reductions will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday, October 5, through Wednesday, October 7, on the westbound I-264 ramp to southbound I-65, where one lane will remain open.<\/p>\n
Access to downtown hospitals and LOUMED medical facilities remains fully open throughout construction. Drivers exiting northbound I-65 at Broadway (Exit 136A) who are not heading to medical centers are advised to turn right onto eastbound Broadway and use Clay Street to reach downtown, while avoiding nearby active construction zones along Brook, Chestnut, Floyd, Gray, Jacob, Preston, and Muhammad Ali Boulevard.
