An Alford plea allows someone to maintain their innocence while admitting that the prosecution has enough evidence to convince a judge or jury to find them guilty.<\/p>\n
Roberto Grider entered an Alford plea of guilty Thursday to theft by deception over 1,000 but less than 10,000 (false impression) and official misconduct (first degree).<\/p>\n
Prosecutors recommended a one-year sentence, with sentences on both charges to be served concurrently. They also recommended pretrial diversion, with the number of years for the diversion period up to the judge\u2019s discretion.<\/p>\n
A Jefferson County grand jury indicted Grider earlier this year after the department found concerns related to the accuracy of his reported work hours.<\/p>\n
Louisville Metro Police Department placed him on administrative reassignment in March, however, the department began Grider\u2019s termination process after he was charged.<\/p>\n
Grider is set to be sentenced November 10.
