But prosecutors argued Lawson gave inconsistent statements.<\/p>\n<p>Lawson\u2019s attorneys are also challenging evidence in the case, and claim the jury was given improper instructions.<\/p>\n<p>Lawson\u2019s son, Joseph Lawson, was sentenced last September to 25 years in prison on his conviction of conspiracy to commit murder and tampering with physical evidence. He appealed his conviction in April. He stood trial with Brooks Houck, Rogers\u2019 boyfriend who was with her at the time of her disappearance. Houck was sentenced to life in prison on his conviction of murder (principal or accomplice to the crime) and complicity tampering with physical evidence.
