Chairman Nicholas Hardesty and Brandon Fogle were the only members in attendance at the meeting. They updates themselves where the current business stood for the authority. County Attorney Jessica Brown Roberts estimated the authority had about $6,000 in it’s checking account. No payments have been needed since August. <\/p>\n
Mike Hucker of Consolidated Grain And Barge Company, reported that the facility had already had an expansion of another 100,000 bushel grain bin to help with the crop off loading at the facility. He said if current trends continue a dryer bin could be added within the next couple of years. Hucker noted some interested in some adjustments to the facility that included adding more barge controls to each end of the dolphins by a couple of hundred feet. That would allow barges to dock for loading easier. He also proposed the Authority to begin to look at the possibility of expanding the footprint of the facility by leasing more land. No immediate plans are in place but he was wanting to start the thinking process so the members of the Riverport Authority could be ready to work on a future request.<\/p>\n
Currently the Riverport Authority has two vacant seats, which one could filled as early as next week during the June regular meeting of Meade County Fiscal Court.<\/p>\n
Chairman Hardesty asked about having the next Riverport Authority meeting at the grain facility to allow new members of the board to see how it works and gain a better understanding about the process.
