\nA city park will benefit after efforts of one local family who was impacted by a sudden tragic event. They giving back to support the community, who has supported them during there tough time.<\/p>\n

Wyatt Moore, step-brother to Devin Hendley, spent the past seven months working on a way to honor Devin, who abruptly died last October. The pair grew up playing basketball and spend time at Nickel Park in Brandenburg. Moore worked to organized a kickball tournament in memory of Devin to raise money to make improvements to Nickel Park. The well attended kickball tournament was held on Saturday (5\/28) at Flaherty Ball Park. <\/p>\n

At the regular monthly meeting of the Brandenburg City Council Monday (6\/13) night, Moore presented Mayor Ronnie Joyner and the council members with a check in the amount of $5,998.84. In addition to the check, Moore also presented the city with brand new basketball goals donated by Kentucky One Health to be installed in the park. Council member Patsy Lusk made a motion for the city to place a plaque at the park as a first step of recognizing Moore for his efforts on the donation and to honor Devin with the improvements at Nickel Park.<\/p>\n

City Leaders will be working with Moore to implement improvement ideas to the park. Moore is the step-son of Brandenburg Police Officer Tim Hendley. Hendley told the council that he and his family appreciated their support during the recent month’s since Devin’s death and this was a way that their family could give back to those who have help them in their time of need.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
