\nOver 200 people gathered during the opening ceremony of the Veteran’s Traveling Tribute Vietnam Memorial Wall Thursday (6\/16) night in Hardinsburg.<\/p>\n

Courthouse Square was filled with veterans and their families along with service members and those who had lost a family member in the Vietnam War. The display opened just before Noon CDT Thursday. <\/p>\n

Kevin Lucas, President of the Breckinridge County Chamber of Commerce described the 80 percent replica of the Vietnam War Memorial Wall in Washington D.C. Over 58,000 names are displayed on the wall including 1,200 Kentucky soldiers, who are still missing in action. Among the speakers, John Watson shared about some of his struggles he and fellow soldiers faced in Vietnam. He described what he witnessed through the conflict and the return home between tours his and other units.<\/p>\n

The Veteran’s Traveling Tribute Vietnam Memorial Wall is a 80 percent replica of the national monument and is 360 feet long. The wall is open around the clock until Sunday afternoon. Shuttle service from Breckinridge County High School is available for the evening ceremonies at 6 pm nightly.<\/p>\n
