\nMammoth Cave National Park officials want to increase fees for tours and programs they offer starting next year in January.<\/p>\n

Superintendent Tracy Stakely says they want feedback to know what people think on their proposal to raise their fees.<\/p>\n

The new fees include a $6 fee per student for The Environmental Education Program and a fee on customized programs for the higher education group.<\/p>\n

The customized program fees range from $15 to $25 per student depending on the hourly length.<\/p>\n

There is also a $1 increase on the existing educational cave tour rate from $5 to $6 dollars per student or chaperone.<\/p>\n

Jennifer Shackelford, the coordinator for all of the environmental education programs says that the feedback that they have received has been positive.<\/p>\n

Stakely said fees have funded renovations to the concessions facilities, construction of the Big Hollow Trail and Maple Springs Trailhead, and backcountry repairs. Fees also cover the cost of tour guide salaries and mitigate against the spread of White-Nose Syndrome in bats.<\/p>\n
