\nKentucky Neighborhood Bank will become part of South Central Bank, according to a news conference Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n

South Central Bancshares of Kentucky and Kentucky National Bancorp made the joint announcement of a definitive agreement between their bank-holding companies.<\/p>\n

Kentucky Neighborhood Bank, which organized and opened in 1997, is headquartered at 1000 N. Dixie Avenue in Elizabethtown and operates two branches in Hardin County.<\/p>\n

The Bale family has been in banking since 1889 when James Kenneth Bale chartered Deposit Bank of Monroe County. The Bales established South Central Bank and built its footprint in southcentral Kentucky as independent, loosely associated companies. In 2014, South Central Bancshares of Kentucky combined the charters of its banks into a single unit. It has banking centers in 14 Kentucky communities ranging from Louisville to Fountain Run in Monroe County.<\/p>\n

The Elizabethtown location at 2908 Ring Road is not far from Kentucky Neighborhood Bank’s branch alongside Kroger off Dolphin Drive.<\/p>\n

The merger is pending regulatory approval, which is expected to take 60 to 90 days.
