An accident led to the arrest of Brandenburg woman Monday night. According to the Meade County Sheriff\u2019s Department, the two vehicle accident happened around 5:30 pm Monday evening (9\/21) at the intersection of Kentucky 144 and 1238 in Garrett.<\/p>\n
A 2007 Mitsubishi Eclipse driven by 49 year-old Shanadean Garcia of Brandenburg was traveling west on Kentucky 1238 and ran the stop sign and collided with a northbound 2001 Nissan Pathfinder driven by 28 year-old Megan Owens of Vine Grove. <\/p>\n
Owens told police that she thought Garcia was going to slow down to a stop but didn\u2019t. Garcia told the investigating officer that she thought she had the right of way. Owens was treated at the scene by Meade County EMS and was taken to Hardin Memorial Hospital in Elizabethtown for her injuries.<\/p>\n
Garcia admitted to consuming two Alprazolam\u2019s before operating the vehicle. She was not able to provide proof of insurance. She was charged with disregarding a stop sign; leaving the scene of a accident- failure to render aid or assistance; an operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol, third offense. She was driving on a suspended license from a previous DUI charge. Garcia was arrested and lodged in the Meade County Detention Center.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
