Around 8 a.m. Nelson County Sheriff deputies and EMS responded to the 1100 block of Bloomfield Road for a person possibly struck by a vehicle. When they arrived they located a 30-year-old woman who had been stabbed multiple times, according to a release from the Nelson County Sheriff’s Office. A witness told deputies the victim jumped out of a black Chevy Impala. <\/p>\n
About 8:16 a.m. Nelson County Dispatch received a complaint of a possible subject who left a store in the 2500 block of Springfield Road in Bardstown without paying for gas. <\/p>\n
Responding deputies located the Impala near Woodlawn Road and a pursuit ensued. During the pursuit deputies noticed the subject, 37-year-old Herbert McGowan, pouring gas inside the vehicle. <\/p>\n
Kentucky State Police in Elizabethtown said troopers were able to stop the vehicle by using stop sticks on the ramp from Bluegrass Parkway to southbound Interstate 65. <\/p>\n
McGowan then set the car on fire. He was arrested at the scene. <\/p>\n
McGowan was later treated at Flaget Memorial Hospital for burns and taken to the Nelson County Jail. He is facing numerous charges, including first-degree domestic violence assault. <\/p>\n
The female victim was flown to University Hospital.
