Just before 8 p.m. on Thursday (9\/08), the Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch, assisted by the Lexington Police Department, arrested 50 year-old Darryl L. Reed on charges related to prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor.<\/p>\n
Reed was arrested as the result of an undercover Internet Crimes Against Children investigation. The Kentucky State Police Electronic Crime Branch began the investigation after receiving information that Reed was attempting to entice a juvenile to perform sexual acts in his presence. <\/p>\n
The investigation resulted in the execution of a search warrant at a residence in Lexington on September 8, 2016. Equipment used to facilitate the crime was seized and taken to Kentucky State Police\u2019s forensic laboratory for examination. <\/p>\n
Reed is currently charged with one count of prohibited use of an electronic communication system to procure a minor. The charge is a Class-D felony punishable by one to five years in prison. Additional charges are expected. <\/p>\n
Reed was lodged in the Fayette County Detention Center.<\/p>\n
