\nOfficials with Meade County Schools and Elizabethtown Community and Technical College officially broke ground on a renovation project Friday (9\/9) that will update class offerings for students at the Meade County Area Technology Center and establish a permanent home for the state college system in the area.<\/p>\n

Local dignitaries and the Meade County High School Student Government were on hand for the historic moment for the school district. The moment offered comments from school leaders about the project.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year, the Meade County Board of Education announced a $14 million renovation project at the Area Technology Center which will be the first major project of it’s kind since the facility was built in 1975. The renovation will include the addition of 40,000 square feet of space and a redesigned parking area which will house state of the art instructional areas for the career pathway programs and college level classes. The new space will allow a permanent home for Adult Education Classes in Meade County. The goal of the partnership is to allow every high school student the opportunity to have a career path and skill set to have in the job market when they graduate. <\/p>\n

Construction on the Area Technology Center is expected to be completed by August 2017.<\/p>\n
