\nA local memorial service was held Sunday (9\/11) evening in honor of the fallen emergency service members who responded to the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 in Meade County.<\/p>\n

The annual ceremony took a different path this year, as units from each county fire department along with police, and EMS gathered at Meade County Courthouse and silently processioned to the Flaherty Fire Department Memorial Garden next to the fire station. Responders gathered around the flag pole of the garden just before sunset for a short ceremony. The ceremony focused on the many changes that has occurred during the past 15 years which has brought each branch of emergency services together along with remembering all of those who lost the life on September 11, 2011. <\/p>\n
In previous years, the silent parade gathered and processed through Brandenburg with the a ceremony at the courthouse. Organizers are working to conduct the annual ceremony at each of the fire departments around the county.<\/p>\n
