The proposed ordinance would allow sales until 2 am and will allow alcohol sales on Sunday county wide. The ordinance now moves on for a second reading before the next 21 days and publication before it can become law. At the start of the meeting, Judge Executive Gerry Lynn read a proclamation with the magistrates approving naming September as Chiari Malformation Awareness Month in Meade County.<\/p>\n
Chiari malformations are structural defects in the cerebellum. That’s the part of the brain that controls balance. Some people with Chiari malformations may have no symptoms, while others may have symptoms such as dizziness, muscle aches, numbness, vision problems, headaches and issues with balance. There is no cure for the defects, a local group will conducting a awareness walk as part of a national effort bring awareness to the issue on Saturday at the Meade County Fairgrounds.<\/p>\n
In other business, court members approved the Meade County Public Library tax rates which remain the same as the current rates. Mark Bennett, Director of the E911 Center, updated the court on the progress of recent equipment updates and purchases. He said the new console controllers were delivered on Tuesday (9\/13) and they be compatible with new technology for future expansion. In the new upgrade a full functional auxiliary dispatch center will be setup at Muldraugh City Hall to allow seamless communications in case of failure or natural disaster situations. Magistrates approved suggested E911 Road Name Changes for private lanes along the newly opened section of the Kentucky 313 road project. The spur of Brandenburg Road will be changed to Buffalo Spring Lane at Hog Wallow and Brandenburg Road to Joe Prather Highway.<\/p>\n
Judge Executive Lynn made an emergency declaration to replace two HVAC units at the Detention Center which has failed in the past couple of weeks. According to Jailer J.J. Scarborough the cost to replace the locked up compressors would be around $7,000 and two brand new systems would cost $11,500. The Court approved the purchase. <\/p>\n
A motion made by Third District Magistrate Billy Sipes was approved by the court to direct the County Attorney to draft a ordinance which would setup and implement a vacant property registration. The purpose of the ordinance would be to look at registering property that has been vacated by the resident owners but are being held by mortgage companies.<\/p>\n
The court conducted a forty minute closed session to discuss possible litigation and personnel which result in no official action taken by the court members. <\/p>\n
