\nAccused of sexually abusing a female student-athlete, LaRue County High School girls\u2019 basketball head coach Simon Ford resigned Monday.<\/p>\n

The district immediately suspended Ford with pay after being notified of the allegations September 7 by a parent of a student. In addition to conducting its own internal investigation, school officials notified Kentucky State Police.<\/p>\n

LaRue County Schools Superintendent Sam Sanders said the school district continues to cooperate with law enforcement while keeping the safety of the students as a top priority. <\/p>\n

Ford was indicted Monday for first-degree sexual abuse by a LaRue County grand jury, according to a court official. He is scheduled to be arraigned October 4 on the Class D felony.
