The council took no action in the closed the session. Council members set this year year&#8217;s trick or treat hours for Monday, October 31 from 5 until 8 pm, which is the same as recent years.<\/p>\n<p>The council approved designated a 2001 Ford F150 pickup, two portable generators, two Kawasaki Mules and two 2012 Suzuki motorcycles as surplus property. The items will be sold by sealed bids and more information may obtained by contacting Brandenburg City Hall during normal business hours.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Ronnie Joyner told the council that he has applied for a safety grant Kentucky League of Cities to grind and even sidewalks along Lawrence, Broadway and Old Ekron Road. The cost of the project is $5,913.75 and half of the cost will be paid by the grant while the remaining balance will be paid by the city. Mayor Joyner updated the new High Street project which is expected to be completed within the next few weeks. He said that in the several days cleanup and finish work will be done along the poured section of the sidewalk while the remaining section will be poured once the finish work is complete.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Joyner recognized Chris and Austin Hulsey, Ray Whited, and several inmates of the Meade County Detention Center for their work on the gazebo in the Brandenburg Riverfront Park. Workers are almost complete with remodeling the structure with new paint and metal roofing. A new decorative light will be added to upper portion of the roof line that will can be changed to add to the setting of the gazebo.<\/p>\n<p>Public Works Director T.J. Hughes reported that weekly mosquito spraying has came to an end since temperatures have became cooler. He also said that fire hydrant flushing is about half done around town and crews will continue flushing operations the remainder of the month. Water customers should check their water before doing laundry.<\/p>\n<p>Mayor Ronnie Joyner said that he had met with the Meade County Public Library Board and agreed to mow a city owned lot one more time before giving them the parcel of land that was donated to the city for a park area.
