A brief power outage Saturday morning (10/24) put several Meade County RECC customers in the dark. According to officials with the utility, a squirrel got into a substation and shorted circuits causing extensive damage to the equipment in the substation.
The outage happened around 9:30 am and most of the Doe Valley area was impacted by the outage. Linemen from Meade County RECC were able to re-route power from other circuits once the cause of the malfunction was determined. Crews had power restored by 10:30 am to most customers affected.
