
Election 2015 showed close numbers in several races across the state. In Meade County, Republican Judy Jordan overcame a close race for County Clerk over Democrat Regina “Jeanie” Duncan.
Jordan received 3,448 (53.54%) votes over the 2,992 (46.46%) votes for Duncan. Jordan was appointed as County Clerk in January until the special election could be held Tuesday night.
At the state level, in the Governor’s race, Republican Matt Beavin took 53 percent of the vote over Democratic challenger Jack Conway who received over 44 percent of the vote with Independent candidate Drew Curtis who received over three and half percent of the vote.
Other state races included Democratic incumbent Alison Lundergan Grimes narrowly edging out Republican Stephen Knipper for Secretary of State, Democrat Andy Beshear took the vote for State Attorney General over Republican Whitney Westerfield. Republican Mike Harmon upset Meade County Democrat incumbent Adam Edelen for office Auditor of Public Accounts. Republican Alison Ball easily took the position State Treasure with 60 percent of the vote over Democrat Rick Nelson. Republican Ryan Quarles handily took 60 percent of the vote for State Agriculture Commissioner over Jean-Marie Lawson Spann.
In Meade County, 6,534 of the 20,366 registered voters came to the polls to vote resulting in a 32.08% voter turn out. For complete coverage of all of the state and local races, visit our Election section.
