A special wet dry vote on Tuesday in Grayson County went down in defeat. It was the first attempt since the 1970’s to get alcohol approved for all of the county.
The unofficial count revealed with one precinct unaccounted for, 3,297 No votes over 2,963 Yes votes.
A group with real estate interests and property on Rough River headed the effort to make the entire county wet. Starting in July, the group mailed out 1,000 letters. Longtime residents and politicians were against the change.
Right now only Rough River State Park and the city of Leitchfield allow by-the-drink alcohol sales.
There are about 17,000 registered voters in Grayson County.
