A historic election activity in Kentucky will be held Saturday (3/5) as the first ever state wide caucus is to decide the Republican presidential nominee for the state.
On Saturday only registered Republican voters can participate. In Meade County, the caucus voting will only be held at the VFW Post 11404 at 770 Bypass Road in Brandenburg from 10 am until 4 pm. Voters will only vote via paper ballot for the active Republican candidates for US President. The other republican races will be held as normal during the state primary election day on May 17.
Unlike regular elections, the caucus is being conducted by the State Republican Party and managed locally by the county parties. Voters will need to bring their identification and sign in the vote by a secret paper ballot. Campaigning and political discussions will be allowed in the area close to where the voting is underway.
Most counties will have a single voting location unlike the regular elections which break down the voters by precinct location. Those who are registered as republican as of December 31, 2015 will be allowed to vote between 10 am and 4 pm on Saturday.
