A historical day in Kentucky as Donald Trump took the majority of the votes across the state once all of the votes were tallied.
According to Republican Party Chairwoman Theresa Padgett on Sunday morning Donald Trump won the Meade County Caucus with 35.92% of the votes, followed by Ted Cruz, with 31.57% of the vote, Marco Rubio had 16.36% of the vote, and John Kasich had 14.43% of the vote.
While many Republican officials in the state feared a low turnout for the state’s first presidential caucus since 1984, more than 229,000 Kentuckians turned out to vote. That was more than voted in the 2012 Republican presidential primary, a race that Mitt Romney had largely already won.
Kentucky’s Democratic presidential primary is May 17.
