Crews from five Hardin County Fire Departments were called to fight a fire at a recycling facility in Longview.
The fire was reported just before 12:30 pm Wednesday(3/30) at Osage Express in the 4500 block of South Wilson Road. The facility recycles industrial plastics. A huge plume of black smoke from the fire could be seen for miles.
Fire crews from Elizabethtown, Radcliff, Vine Grove, Central Hardin and Rineyville needed to bring the fire under control.
Bryce Shumate, a spokesman for Hardin County Government, said no buildings were involved, just products on the property that were to be recycled. No injuries have been reported. Traffic in the area was diverted or slowed as a result of the fire.
