
An Elizabethtown man, who admitted during a videotaped police interview to a sexual relationship with a minor has accepted a five-year plea deal Tuesday morning in Hardin Circuit Court.
Kyle A. Burgess, 24, pleaded guilty to five charges of third-degree rape and one count of third-degree sodomy. He also must register as a lifetime sex offender after he is released.
According to his arrest citation, the girl involved was 14 years old at the time. According to the indictment, the offenses occurred between August 25 and November 12. He was arrested November 23 by Elizabethtown Police and has been in the Hardin County Detention Center in lieu of a $5,000 cash bond since his arrest.
Police were notified by the family of the girl. During a videotaped interview in November, Burgess told investigators he knew the girl was 14 and “admitted he knew this relationship was inappropriate and subjected him to legal ramifications.”
