A two-vehicle accident near Hawesville Monday (04/11) morning left two people injured and closed a portion of Highway 60 for a time.
According to Hancock County Sheriff Department, a semi driven by 60 year-old Joe Hearn of Tennessee was traveling eastbound on U.S. 60 near the intersection with Kentucky 69, when a westbound car driven by 43 year-old James Bard of Radcliff veered across the center line. Hearn stated he tried to avoid collision, but the car continued on and struck the semi.
Bard was airlifted from the scene to Deaconness Hospital in Evansville with serious but not life threatening injuries. Bard’s wife, Kimberly was taken by Hancock County EMS to Owensboro Regional Health for treatment. Crews worked until around 10:30 Monday morning to clear the road.
