
Monday(4/18) is the final day to register to vote in the May 17 Primary Election.
Residents have until 4 pm to register or change their address to eligible to vote in the Primary. Meade County Clerk Judy Jordan said that absentee voting will begin after 10 am on Monday (4/18) for those who will be out of town or unable to go the voting precincts on May 16. Absentee voting may be done by mail, online or in person at your county clerk’s office.
Both Republicans and Democrats will vote on federal races. On the Republican ballot, voters will participate to decide the Second Congressional District US Senate race between incumbent Rand Paul, Stephen Howard Slaughter and James R. Gould.
The Democratic primary will feature Second Congressional District races for US President: Martin O’Malley, Bernard “Bernie” Sanders, Hillary Clinton, Roque Rocky De La Fuente or Uncommitted. In the race for US Senator voters will have to chose between: Rory Houlihan, Jeff Kender, Tom Recktenwald, Grant T. Short, Sellus Wilder, and Jim Gray. For the State Fifth Senatorial District voters will have to decided between Ricky Alvey or Leslie Stith.
The Republican US Presidential race was already conducted during the recent caucus that was held in March.
