Two closely followed proposed ordinances past members of Meade County Fiscal Court Tuesday (10/11) night during their regular monthly meeting.
The court approved the second reading of a ordinance for expanded alcohol sales across the county which allows Sunday sales. The vote unanimous by the court and will become law upon completion of the publication process. The court also heard and approved the first reading of a ordinance to setup a vacant property registration by a vote of 5 to 1. First District Magistrate Tom Goddard voted against the ordinance. The effort of county leaders is to resolve the issue of unkept properties that are owned or mortgaged by out of town financial institutions and anyone who is a mortgage holder of a unkept property. The court can still make adjustments before the second reading of the ordinance is approved.
In other business, the court gave pre-approval of Election Clerks and Precinct workers to the County Clerk in the amount of $14,500. They also approved the use of the E-slate and E-scan voting machines at each precinct during the general election on November 8. Fiscal Court also approved a job description for the position of Billing Clerk for the county EMS department. They approved a proposal updated health insurance of the county employees by John Bevin, along with setting the speed limit on Crosier Bottom Road to 35 mph.
County Trick or Treat hours will be held on Monday, October 31 from 5 until 8 pm, which is the same as the City of Brandenburg.
Because of Election Day on November 8, Judge Executive Gerry Lynn asked court members to move the November business to a special called meeting on Wednesday, November 9 at 7 pm.
