
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court sorted through their business items Tuesday (12/13) during their regular meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Judge Executive Gerry Lynn asked for prayers for the families involved in accident that happened earlier in the day. The court moved into their business session and approved the hiring of Shawn Thompson for a full time position with Meade County EMS. EMS Director Mike Wise presented an update to magistrates regarding the billing and collection for the ambulance service. He noted that an amount of $35,445.28 was deemed noncollectable while another $38,000 was found be billing adjustments. Wise said in the first seven months with the billing contractor, EMS has billed $1,628,495.69 and has collected $1.2 million year to date. He said last year EMS collected $1.1 million. So far the average amount per run the county receives per run is about $423.
Wise asked county leaders to consider purchasing new stretchers that would meet new ambulance standards and would reduce the number of back injury cases for EMS personnel. Judge Executive Lynn scheduled a special meeting on Thursday (12/22) at 6 pm for members of the court to see a demonstration of the stretchers.
In other business, the court accepted the Meade County Clerk audit for the year ending December 2015. They also approved increasing the speed limit to 55 mph on Crosier Bottom Road and accepted the transfer of roads from the Kentucky 313 project. Magistrates approved the contracts for the Information Technology technicians, along with the County Electrical and Building inspectors. The court approved the recommendation of Stile Carter & Associates CPA to conduct the 2016 fiscal year audit of the county finances. They also approved the 2017 holiday schedule.
Fiscal Court met in a closed session at the end of the meeting to discuss personnel matters to return for action to approve a two week administration leave for a county employee.
