The Ekron City Commission welcomed a new member to their commission during their first meeting of the new year Tuesday (1/3) night.
At the beginning of the meeting, Commissioner Kevin Wethington was sworn in by Mayor Gwynne Ison. Commissioners approved the minutes of their previous meetings on November 1 and a special called meeting on November 15. In old business, the commission left the topics of purchasing a camera system and speed bumps on the table until the February meeting as bids and pricing are still being obtained. Commissioners approved a bid $150 by Jim Kindle to work on trimming and mulching around the city park.
In new business, Commissioner Corey Trent reported that the Neighborhood Watch program was taking shape. He had spoken with the Meade County Sheriff’s Department about the program and is expecting a presentation to the commission during the February meeting which give information and guidance on how the program will operate. Trent said that a call tree had been established and signs have been ordered to be place at each entrance to the city.
The Ekron City Commission is scheduled to meet next for their regular meeting on Tuesday, February 7 at 6:30 pm at Ekron City Hall. You may listen to the entire January regular meeting in our “On Demand” section.
