A woman was arrested Friday afternoon after driving erratically in a parking lot and on Interstate 65.
Warren County Sheriff’s deputies were called to the Smiths Grove McDonald’s and IGA Express because a vehicle was driving erratically in the parking lot.
Deputies say 58-year-old Penny Owens of Lexington, was driving the car. Deputies had a brief conversation with Owens, before she recklessly fled the parking lot and headed toward I-65.
Owens got on I-65 northbound and continued to flee. Several law enforcement agencies pursed Owens as she fled on the interstate driving in an erratic and reckless manner. Kentucky State Police made several attempts to terminate the pursuit.
Owens eventually wrecked her vehicle at mile marker 82 in Hardin County where she was taken into custody.
Owens was evaluated and released by Greenview Regional Hospital and then transported to Warren County Regional Jail.
Owens was charged with No Registration Plates, Reckless Driving, Fleeing and Evading in Motor Vehicle First Degree, Wanton Endangerment First Degree (Police Officer), and Resisting Arrest.
