
Cleanup began Wednesday across parts of the region after severe storms swept through the area Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
The severe weather on Wednesday closed schools in Meade County for the day and forced Breckinridge County schools to delay classes by an hour.

Crews worked several hours to remove trees and repair power lines along Highway 79 between the railroad tracks and Highway 428 that were blocking the roadway. Another tree fell along Highway 401 near the Constantine Baptist Church, blocking the road in the area.
Heavy rains on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings triggered minor flooding issues throughout the region.
Lightning from the Wednesday morning storms is believed to have started a fire at Mountain Laurel Lake along Highway 86.
