The Brandenburg City Council worked through a short agenda during their regular meeting Monday (3/13) night.
The council reviewed a presentation of the city financial audit ending June 30, 2016 by Brown & Company CPA. Gilbert Brown said it was a clean audit of the city finances. He did urge city leaders to begin to think about how the possibility of future action by state lawmakers to sure up the state pension system would impact the city’s coffers. Brown said that there was no immediate need but was a realistic concern to have a plan for.
In other business, council approved placing a 2009 Ford Crown Victoria car as surplus property to be sold at auction. They also approved a bid from Lancaster Lawn Care to mow the Riverfront Park for $280 per mowing. Mayor Ronnie Joyner said a plan is underway to relocate the downtown outdoor weather siren to the old water tower site on the west hill side that over looks the riverfront. Mayor Joyner said the current location has interference with the radio control to control the siren unit which was recently replaced after a lighting strike last year. The move should provide wider coverage of the outdoor device. City leaders will be discussing the move with resident who live close to the site before the move is made.
