Ekron City Commissioners voted to adopt the proposed 2017-18 budget during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday (6/6) evening.
The $144,000 budget will begin on July 1. The commission voted to approve the renewal of the city liability insurance at the current rate of $1,598.59. Commissioner Corey Trent asked for approval to purchase a new lock and hardware to lock the old well house after several kids have been seen trespassing in the structure.
The commission discussed mowing in front of the fire house near the school and the possibility to review mowing along some alley ways that remain grown up. The Commission agreed to send letter of notice to owners of vacant property within the city limits about mowing overgrown grass. The commission approved a bid request of $100 from Sandy Adams to trim back limbs and brush from sidewalks and alleys in the city.
The commission canceled their July regular meeting due to the July Fourth holiday. The commission will meet for the next regular business session on August 1 at 6:30 pm.
