
Members of Meade County Fiscal Court met during a special called meeting Monday (6/26) night to finalize the current fiscal year budget expenses.
The court approved the second reading of the proposed $14.9 million 2017-18 fiscal year budget. The court approved a private road name of Hummingbird Lane near Flaherty for addressing purposes. Magistrates approved the reappointment of Mike Greenwell to the Ekron Fire Department Board of Trustees and they accepted the Health Department tax rates for the upcoming year which remain the same.
EMS Director Mike Wise provided Fiscal Court with a year end statement report of figures for the EMS billing. Wise said the department has billed $2,197,000 for ambulance runs since July 1, 2016. After billing adjustments for Medicare and Medicaid, the county has collected $1,370,000 of the billed amount. The billing service is also working on collecting back amounts that are owned from the previous in house billing system.
Fiscal Court opened and approved the only received bid for a new ambulance at a cost of $149,000. The ambulance will feature a Ford F350 chassis with a new box.
The next meeting of the Meade County Fiscal Court will be their next regular meeting on Tuesday, July 11 at 7 pm in the courtroom of the Meade County Courthouse.
