
Meade County authorities are investigating the drowning death of a teenager who was found in the Ohio River Saturday (7/8) evening.
Meade County E911 received a call of a teen, who had went under the water in the Ohio River and never resurfaced. Emergency crews from Wolf Creek, Payneville, Concordia, and Meade County Fire Departments went to scene near Wolf Creek. Rescue crews along with members of the Louisville Metro Police Dive Team worked over ninety minutes searching the water before finding and recovered the teen’s body from the river.
Officials have not released the identity of the victim. The teen apparently was visiting family members in Meade County, when the incident occurred. The drowning remains under investigation by the Meade County Sheriff’s Department. Meade County EMS and Kentucky Fish & Wildlife also assisted in the search effort. An autopsy is expected to be performed at the State Medical Examiner’s office in Louisville.
