Members of Meade County Fiscal Court met during their regular monthly meeting Tuesday (8/8) evening and voted to keep county rates the same.
The tax rate for the new fiscal year remains at 21.60 cents, which translates to 37.96 cents per $100 for personal property; 13.4 cents per $100 on motor vehicles and watercraft; and 19 cents per $100 on merchant inventory. Magistrates had the option to take state calculated compensating rate of 23.30 cents or a 24 cent capped rate.
The court approved a $2,000 increase adjustment to the asphalt bid at Meade-Olin park due to contractor change. They also approved the transfer of a secretary from the Road Department to the Planning and Zoning office. Lance Padgett was approved as the appointment to the Planning and Zoning Board to replace David Masterson.
Several residents of the Harrington Heights subdivision expressed safety concerns at the entrance to their subdivision in the wake of the newly constructed Kentucky 313 project. Residents asked Fiscal Court about the possibility of a three way intersection if the county acquires the former section of Highway 448. Judge Executive Gerry Lynn said that he bring their concerns to the attention of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet to see what can be done to address the safety for residents.
Magistrates approved the purchase of two new RTU units for the Detention Center air conditioning system at a cost of $24,049 as the lowest bid. They also approved an update to the personnel policy and procedures and a pay grade amendment. The court entered into a half hour closed session to result in no action taken.
