Kentucky State Police Post 4 in Elizabethtown will be relocating and will leave behind the building overlooking Interstate 65 since its inception.
State police will take over the now vacant Lincoln Village Youth Development and Regional Juvenile Detention Center on New Glendale Road in Elizabethtown. Post officials toured the property recently and will be developing a plan for remodeling it to match the operating needs of the police post.
Trooper Jeff Gregory said there is no firm timetable to when the move will be made. Operations must be fully in place, including communications towers, before operations are relocated. KSP will have no downtime related to the relocation.
Gregory estimated the move could take place early next year.
