Emergency crews in Grayson County were called to the scene of fatal accident involving a semi truck near Caneyville.
Around 4:30 pm CDT Monday (10/30) the Grayson County Sheriff’s Office, Caneyville Fire Department and EMS responded to the 94 mile marker of eastbound Western Kentucky Parkway and found that a westbound semi, being driven by 61 year-old Jamey G. Reynolds, of Madisonville, had left the roadway, struck a guardrail and traveled underneath the Highway 79 overpass on an embankment.
After scraping the support beams, the semi hit another guardrail before reentering the roadway. The empty tractor trailer, then crossed the westbound lanes and median before crossing the eastbound lanes and striking a guardrail and embankment head-on. The semi completely blocked both eastbound lanes.
Reynolds was pronounced dead at the scene by Grayson County Coroner Joe Brad Hudson. While not official, it appears as if Reynolds may have suffered a medical-related event prior to the accident. Reynolds body was taken to the State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
The eastbound lanes of the parkway were closed for about four and a half hours.
